Call to actions are a very important part ofecommerce website design. Ecommerce call to actions, need to stand out, be clear to user what they do and wear they go. Good call to actions can increase clicks and therefore sales. There are a few things that can be done to insure that a call to action does its job.
Positioning
The Call to Action should be easily seen, always above the fold (always on screen without the need to scroll). It also needs to be placed where the user eyes are likely to be, near a price or the listing of products are ideal places. The call to action should all be place in an area of space, it does not want to be placed near other links or close to other graphics, it could then get lost in the design and make it harder to find.
Size
A call to action is the most important link on the product page, users need to see it right away so therefore it needs to be big and prominent.
Colour
The button needs to stand out amongst the other icons and elements on the page. A bright colour is ideal. Green is often a good colour to use as it can be seen to have a meaning of ‘Go’ and will trigger in the user mind that it is next step.
Language
The language used in the call to action can also play an important part. The message of the call to action should be clear and concise. The wording should also give the user the message of the action they are going to take. ‘Buy Now’ and ‘Add to Basket’ are examples of good call to actions.
