When coming up with ideas for your website design, you might sit there on your own and generate ideas. Sometimes you come up with a solution, but you're not entirely happy it's the best, or you may be even stuck for ideas. Get more people involved before hand and hold a brainstorming session.

Before you begin, its worth getting more ideas in order to the get the best solution for your website design. Brainstorming is a popular method to do this. Aside from gathering ideas they also provide benefits, such as enhancing the enjoyment of group work and improving morale. It may also serve as a useful exercise for team building.

It's advised that the groups not too big, fewer group members are generally more productive than larger groups. The best group would include several core members of the project, several guests from outside the project and someone who can record the suggested ideas. If you don't have such a group to generate ideas, even one individual could make a difference. Brainstorming is like a game of ping pong, you bounce ideas around the table and together you come up with more original ideas.

Here are some tips to have the most productive brainstorming session:

• Get all the ideas out in the open. The more ideas the better. The assumption is that the greater the number of ideas, the greater the chance of producing a radical and effective solution.

• Do not criticise. All ideas should be welcome, and by suspending judgment you create a supportive atmosphere so that members of the group feel free to generate unusual ideas. Leave the criticism for later on, after the ideas have been generated.

• Unusual ideas are welcome: They may open new ways of thinking in the group, and provide better solutions than regular ideas.
