paypal integration

Paypal is possibly the biggest independent payment provider for online payments today. The growth of the company and its products was massively assisted when it was acquired by eBay in 2002, cementing its already very strong postion within online auction payments and paving the way for true dominance within that sector.

The Paypal product has grown from providing direct transfers to the position now where the company has various products aimed at different sectors of the online payments market. Paypal still strongly supports eBay with specific payments and receipts for the auction site but has now expanded the arsenal to include a non-integrated payments gateway, two fully integrated solutions and a standalone payment application for MOTO transactions. A major part of Paypal's recent growth has been the shift away from requiring payees to have a paypal account of their own, Paypal can now accept direct credit card payments which has opened the system for more widespread use.

Many of our clients choose to support Paypal as its dominance within the auctions market make it a trusted provider for many customers. With Paypal integration often chosen as a supporting gateway, rather than as the main payment provider the standard payment route is the most common - oddly enough it is this route that also engenders the most trust from website customers as most are used to Paypal's offsite payment and seem to be slightly suspicious of an embedded request for their paypal password. Despite this, inline integration is becoming more popular - possibly due to the recent inline integration of Paypal into eBay- and is also easily achieved within Advansys ecommerce solutions.
