Many of our videos feature presenters, where the background has been removed, and replaced with an image. But how is this created?

How Can We Add A Virtual Presenter To Your Website?

This type of video is created in the same way as in film visual effects by replacing a coloured background with stunning scenery or effects in order to trick the viewer into thinking characters are in a different place. This technique is called Chroma key. Chroma key is a technique for mixing two images or frames together, in which a colour from one image is removed, revealing another image behind it. It is most commonly used by weather forecast broadcasts, where the presenter appears to be standing in front of a large map, but in the studio its actually a large blue or green background.

At Advansys we have a large, well-lit green screen, which the presenter will stand in front of, and then filmed using the latest Canon professional camcorders. Following the filming, the video will be edited using editing software, Final Cut Pro, where we will capture, manipulate and render your video footage using its comprehensive and powerful editing tools. This video will then be added into your website design.

Although replacing a background seems easy, there are problems. The presenter must not wear clothing of a similar colour to that of the chroma key colour, unless intentional, because the clothing will also be replaced with the background video. In a similar way, this also applies to products of the same colour, or that have transparency. Small details such as hair, or hands also set a challenge as some of the details may be lost in the process. This does not mean its impossible - we will find a way around any problem to achieve the results you want.
